Japanese farmers have discovered a way to grow cubic watermelons: by growing the fruits in glass boxes & letting them naturally assume the shape of the receptacle. ^{The square shape is purposefully designed to make the melons easier to stack & store. On the downside the square watermelons are often two-fold the price of normal ones. Many more shapes have been developed ! :]}
